Will EU leaders agree on top job candidates till the end of June?

EU
The leaders of EU 28 member-states were set to make a decision on the succession of the bloc's top jobs at a meeting in Brussels on June 20, but failed to do so due to underlying conflicts of interests. Now a new summit is to be held on June 30  - just two days before a key meeting of the European Parliament.

On top of trying to find majorities for successors, leaders were also trying to decide what issues the EU should prioritize over the next five years.

All of the bloc's top jobs are changing hands this year, following European-wide elections in May.

Tense differences are said to have emerged over the successors for the key roles.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel had stressed the importance of finding a "joint solution" at the Council summit.
